Area Overview

What makes Hinjewadi special

Hinjewadi is Pune’s IT capital. The Rajiv Gandhi Infotech Park spreads across three phases and employs several lakh people, and almost everything about the locality — its traffic, its rents, its demographics — follows from that.

It is a working-week place. Phases 1, 2 and 3 hold the campuses, with residential development filling the land around them and pushing west toward Maan and Marunji.

The Pune Metro Line 3 corridor from Hinjewadi to Shivajinagar is the defining project here. When it opens it removes the single biggest complaint about the area, which is the Hinjewadi–Wakad road at peak.

Why choose Hinjewadi?

Hinjewadi is bought for the commute to work. The IT park is inside the locality, township housing offers clubhouse amenities at a fraction of Mumbai pricing, and Metro Line 3 will connect it to central Pune. The trade-offs are severe traffic on the Hinjewadi–Wakad road at peak, no suburban rail, an airport run of about seventy minutes, and a locality that empties noticeably at weekends.
