Gollapudi lies on the north-western side of Vijayawada, across the river on the Hyderabad road, and has grown into a substantial residential and commercial belt with its own markets.
THE RIVER IS THE POINT. Access to the city concentrates on the bridges, so an address here can be close in kilometres and slow in practice, and a bridge closure or restriction affects everything at once. JUDGE THE CROSSING AT PEAK TIMES rather than on a map — the same advice this project gave for Kunhadi across the Chambal at Kota.

Local Train
Vijayawada Junction is one of the busiest stations in India, on the main east coast trunk route, with Gunadala and Rayanapadu also serving the urban area.
Metro
Vijayawada has NO METRO IN SERVICE. The Phase 1 plan is two corridors of about 38 km from Pandit Nehru Bus Station to Penamaluru and to Nidamanuru via the airport, including a double-decker viaduct between Benz Circle and Ramavarappadu Ring. The state approved the DPR in 2024 and land acquisition began in early 2025, but REPORTS THROUGH EARLY 2026 SAID FORMAL CENTRAL FUNDING SANCTION WAS STILL OUTSTANDING. NOTHING IS UNDER CONSTRUCTION. CHECK CURRENT STATUS, and do not pay for a station that has not been built.
Airport
Vijayawada International Airport is at GANNAVARAM, about 20 km east - which is itself a row on this sheet, and a separate town rather than a city neighbourhood.
Roads
The EM Bypass, VIP Road, Diamond Harbour Road and Barrackpore Trunk Road form the arterial network, with Chowringhee through the centre.
