Area Overview

What makes Pimpri special

Pimpri is the administrative heart of the Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation, and the busiest civic and commercial centre in this belt. PCMC Bhavan, the main market and the corporation hospital are all here.

It sits on the Pune–Lonavala suburban line and on the old Mumbai–Pune highway, and it is where Pune Metro Line 1 terminates — the only locality in this zone with a metro station actually operating.

The area grew around the post-independence industrial estates, and the older parts still read that way: dense, mixed-use, with workshops and shops at street level and housing above.

Why choose Pimpri?

Pimpri is the best-connected address in this zone: a working Metro Line 1 terminus, a suburban rail station, the old highway, YCM Hospital within a kilometre and D.Y. Patil’s engineering and medical colleges nearby. It is a proper town rather than a dormitory. The trade-offs are density in the older core, industrial-era streetscape, and a thirty-five-minute drive to Hinjewadi.
