Area Overview

What makes Saibaba Colony special

Saibaba Colony sits north-west of the centre and is one of Coimbatore’s established family addresses: planned streets, good schools, hospitals nearby, and an active resale market in ordinary family houses and apartments rather than trophy plots.

IT PRICES CLOSE TO RS PURAM WITHOUT THE RETAIL PRESSURE. What you give up is the DB Road frontage and some centrality; what you get is quieter streets and, generally, more house for the money.

THE PAPERWORK IS ORDINARY BUT NOT AUTOMATIC. Much of the colony is long-established individual plots, so the patta, chitta and adangal need reading together, and any subdivision needs to be on record.

Getting around from Saibaba Colony

Local train and transport links serving Saibaba Colony, Coimbatore

Exceptionally Connected

Rail, road and air • NO METRO — DPR returned by the Centre in November 2025 • Coimbatore Junction • Airport 10 km

Local Train

Coimbatore Junction is the main station, on the Chennai-Coimbatore-Kerala trunk route. PODANUR JUNCTION to the south is older and still handles a share of traffic, and there are suburban halts along the Irugur and Podanur lines.

Metro

Coimbatore has NO METRO. The Phase 1 DPR - two elevated corridors, about 34.8 km - was approved by the Tamil Nadu government in February 2024, but THE UNION GOVERNMENT RETURNED IT IN NOVEMBER 2025 on the ground that the city does not meet the population criterion in the National Metro Rail Policy, which is read against the 2011 Census. NOTHING IS UNDER CONSTRUCTION. Judge this locality on road and rail, not on a proposed alignment - and CHECK CURRENT STATUS, because the position is politically live.

Airport

Coimbatore International Airport at Peelamedu is about 12 km from the centre and unusually close in - which is convenient, and which is also why HEIGHT RESTRICTIONS apply across the eastern side of the city.

Roads

The EM Bypass, VIP Road, Diamond Harbour Road and Barrackpore Trunk Road form the arterial network, with Chowringhee through the centre.

Frequently Asked Questions

Quick answers about living, buying and renting in Saibaba Colony.

Is Saibaba Colony a good place to live?

SAIBABA COLONY IS THE FAMILY END OF THE PRIME BELT — settled, well schooled, and quieter than RS Puram.

What is the average property price in Saibaba Colony?

Purchase prices are typically around ₹14,000–19,000 per sq.ft, with a typical 2 BHK ranging from ₹70L to ₹89L.

What is the rent for a 2 BHK in Saibaba Colony?

A 2 BHK in Saibaba Colony typically rents for ₹32,000 to ₹59,000 per month depending on building, floor and condition.

What actually drives Coimbatore’s residential prices?

Employment and schools, in that order, and they pull in different directions. The engineering, textile and IT employers sit east and north-east — Peelamedu, the Avinashi Road corridor, Saravanampatti — while the established school clusters and the deepest resale markets sit west, in RS Puram, Saibaba Colony and Race Course. That split is the single most useful thing to understand about the city: the west sells to families who will hold for decades, the east and north-east let to a working tenant population and carry noticeably better yields. Deciding which of those you are buying tells you which half of this sheet to look at.

What are the best nearby alternatives to Saibaba Colony?

Comparable alternatives include RS Puram, Race Course, Kavundampalayam and GN Mills.
