Vidyadharapuram is a large, dense, largely working-population locality on the western side of Vijayawada, with its own markets and long-established settlement.
IT IS IN THE BELT THE BUDAMERU AFFECTS. The rivulet enters the city on this western side, and the September 2024 breaches inundated large areas here and in the adjoining colonies. This is not a prediction about any particular building; it is the thing to establish first.
THE BUDAMERU PROBLEM IS STRUCTURAL, NOT WEATHER. Vijayawada Junction is one of the busiest stations in India, on the main east coast trunk route, with Gunadala and Rayanapadu also serving the urban area.
Metro
Vijayawada has NO METRO IN SERVICE. The Phase 1 plan is two corridors of about 38 km from Pandit Nehru Bus Station to Penamaluru and to Nidamanuru via the airport, including a double-decker viaduct between Benz Circle and Ramavarappadu Ring. The state approved the DPR in 2024 and land acquisition began in early 2025, but REPORTS THROUGH EARLY 2026 SAID FORMAL CENTRAL FUNDING SANCTION WAS STILL OUTSTANDING. NOTHING IS UNDER CONSTRUCTION. CHECK CURRENT STATUS, and do not pay for a station that has not been built.
Airport
Vijayawada International Airport is at GANNAVARAM, about 20 km east - which is itself a row on this sheet, and a separate town rather than a city neighbourhood.
Roads
The EM Bypass, VIP Road, Diamond Harbour Road and Barrackpore Trunk Road form the arterial network, with Chowringhee through the centre.
