Area Overview

What makes Matunga East special

Matunga East is Mumbai’s South Indian quarter and its densest college precinct in one. Ruia, Podar, VJTI and the Institute of Chemical Technology all sit within a few streets of each other.

King’s Circle and the Five Gardens precinct give it a low-rise, tree-lined character that is rare this far into the island city, and the udupi restaurants along Bhandarkar Road have been running for decades.

It is quiet, walkable and academically serious. Stock is old and closely held, and the best of it around Five Gardens rarely comes to market.
