Varanasi Junction (Cantt) is the main station, with Banaras (Manduadih) and Pandit Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Junction carrying much of the through traffic.
Metro
Varanasi has NO METRO. The metro plan was shelved in 2018 - the old city has no room for it - and the KASHI ROPEWAY was taken up instead: five stations from Varanasi Cantt to Godowlia, India’s first urban public-transport ropeway. It is UNDER CONSTRUCTION with trial runs completed, and has been slowed by litigation over the Godowlia station. CHECK CURRENT STATUS.
