Transport & Commuting
Getting around from New Thorala

Exceptionally Connected
Rail, road and air • No metro — and the old city does not need one • Rajkot Junction • Airport 10 km
Local Train
Rajkot Junction sits on the edge of the old city, which is why this belt was built where it was. Almost every row on this sheet is within two or three kilometres of it.
Metro
RAJKOT HAS NO METRO AND NONE IS UNDER CONSTRUCTION. The city runs on road and on a BRTS corridor. Every row on this sheet is in the old city, within a couple of kilometres of Rajkot Junction, so distances here are walking and auto distances rather than commutes - which is most of what the old city has going for it.
Airport
RAJKOT INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT AT HIRASAR is about 30 km out on the Ahmedabad highway and replaced the old city airport. From the old city that is a proper drive rather than the short hop the previous airport allowed. CHECK CURRENT SERVICES.
Roads
The EM Bypass, VIP Road, Diamond Harbour Road and Barrackpore Trunk Road form the arterial network, with Chowringhee through the centre.
