Area Overview
What makes Zirakpur Road special
Zirakpur Road runs south-east from the Mohali belt toward Zirakpur, on the Chandigarh-Ambala side.
ZIRAKPUR ITSELF IS NOT ON THIS SHEET. It is a substantial town with its own municipal council, inside GMADA’s planning area, and one of the most actively traded property markets in the tricity — and the sheet carries the road to it but not the place.
THAT IS THE SAME CAPTURE GAP AS AEROCITY AND NEW CHANDIGARH: the sheet names a place in passing and never gives it a row. THREE SUBSTANTIAL TRICITY MARKETS ARE REFERENCED AND NOT CAPTURED.

Getting around from Zirakpur Road

Exceptionally Connected
Rail, road and air • NO METRO IN SERVICE — the Tricity Metro is approved but nothing is built • Mohali station • Airport 10 km
Local Train
Mohali (SAS Nagar) station serves the city, with Chandigarh Junction about 8-10 km away carrying most long-distance traffic.
Metro
Mohali has NO METRO IN SERVICE. The TRICITY METRO - about 77 km over three lines across Chandigarh, Mohali, New Chandigarh and Panchkula, with roughly 31 km in Mohali and New Chandigarh - was approved with a Phase 1 cost around Rs 10,500-10,570 crore. RITES phasing puts construction from 2027 and operations in the early-to-mid 2030s. THE PROJECT HAS BEEN ON THE DRAWING BOARD SINCE ABOUT 2000 and an earlier DPR was rejected in 2017 as commercially unviable. NOTHING IS BUILT. CHECK CURRENT STATUS.
Airport
CHANDIGARH INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT IS PHYSICALLY IN MOHALI DISTRICT - formally Shaheed Bhagat Singh International Airport. The name says Chandigarh; the land is in SAS Nagar, which is why the Airport Road and Aerocity corridor sits on this sheet at all.
Roads
The EM Bypass, VIP Road, Diamond Harbour Road and Barrackpore Trunk Road form the arterial network, with Chowringhee through the centre.
