Area Overview

What makes Cross Cut Road special

Cross Cut Road is one of Coimbatore’s best-known retail streets, running through the Gandhipuram commercial core — showrooms, textiles and jewellery, with heavy footfall.

IT IS A STREET, NOT A LOCALITY, and the locality it sits in is separately a row here. As with DB Road on the western side, frontage and back-street stock price completely differently, and a listing giving only the road name has identified a pitch rather than an address.

THE PERMITTED-USE QUESTION GOVERNS floor by floor. Retail below with residential or office above is the normal pattern, and lenders treat mixed use differently from either.

Exceptionally Connected

Rail, road and air • NO METRO — DPR returned by the Centre in November 2025 • Coimbatore Junction • Airport 10 km

Local Train

Coimbatore Junction is the main station, on the Chennai-Coimbatore-Kerala trunk route. PODANUR JUNCTION to the south is older and still handles a share of traffic, and there are suburban halts along the Irugur and Podanur lines.

Metro

Coimbatore has NO METRO. The Phase 1 DPR - two elevated corridors, about 34.8 km - was approved by the Tamil Nadu government in February 2024, but THE UNION GOVERNMENT RETURNED IT IN NOVEMBER 2025 on the ground that the city does not meet the population criterion in the National Metro Rail Policy, which is read against the 2011 Census. NOTHING IS UNDER CONSTRUCTION. Judge this locality on road and rail, not on a proposed alignment - and CHECK CURRENT STATUS, because the position is politically live.

Airport

Coimbatore International Airport at Peelamedu is about 12 km from the centre and unusually close in - which is convenient, and which is also why HEIGHT RESTRICTIONS apply across the eastern side of the city.

Roads

The EM Bypass, VIP Road, Diamond Harbour Road and Barrackpore Trunk Road form the arterial network, with Chowringhee through the centre.

Frequently Asked Questions

Quick answers about living, buying and renting in Cross Cut Road.

Is Cross Cut Road a good place to live?

CROSS CUT ROAD IS A STREET INSIDE THE GANDHIPURAM CORE, which is separately a row on this sheet. It is retail frontage, not a residential locality.

What is the average property price in Cross Cut Road?

Purchase prices are typically around ₹14,000–19,000 per sq.ft, with a typical 2 BHK ranging from ₹70L to ₹89L.

What is the rent for a 2 BHK in Cross Cut Road?

A 2 BHK in Cross Cut Road typically rents for ₹32,000 to ₹59,000 per month depending on building, floor and condition.

How should road and street rows be handled in a listings database?

Keep the page, move the field. A street like this one earns a landing page because people genuinely search it, and a page that explains the frontage-versus-behind distinction is more useful than one that pretends it is a neighbourhood. But the locality field in the listing itself should carry the actual locality — Gandhipuram here, RS Puram for DB Road — with the street held as a separate address line or a searchable alias. That way both terms resolve, the filter behaves, and nobody ends up comparing a showroom frontage with a flat two streets back as though they were the same thing.

Is Cross Cut Road suitable for families?

Local CBSE schools operate within 2 km with a local CBSE school about 7 km and Regional international school about 6 km, plus local hospitals about 2 km.

Is Cross Cut Road a good investment?

Reported price appreciation has been roughly 6–9% per year with rental yields around 5–5.5%. As with any market, actual returns vary and should be checked against current transaction data before investing.

How far is Cross Cut Road from Coimbatore airport?

Cross Cut Road is about 20 km from Coimbatore International Airport — around 48 minutes at peak.

What are the best nearby alternatives to Cross Cut Road?

Comparable alternatives include Gandhipuram, Town Hall, Big Bazaar Street and DB Road.
