Area Overview
What makes Ghodbunder Road special
Ghodbunder Road is a corridor, not a neighbourhood, and that is the single most useful thing to know about it. It runs roughly 20 km from the Kapurbawdi junction in Thane north-west to Gaimukh and the Mira Road side, linking the Eastern and Western Express Highways.
It is Thane’s main growth axis. Almost all of the city’s large township development since the 2000s has happened along it, and the population has grown several times over in two decades.
Character changes substantially along its length. The inner stretches at Manpada and Waghbil are closer to central Thane and better served; past Kasarvadavali toward Gaimukh the belt is newer, cheaper and considerably further from everything. Yeoor Hills and the Sanjay Gandhi National Park boundary run along the southern side.

Why choose Ghodbunder Road?
Ghodbunder Road is where most of Thane’s township housing was built — large gated developments with full amenities, Yeoor Hills and the national park boundary along the southern side, and Metro Line 4 under construction with its terminus at Kasarvadavali. The critical point is that this is a 20 km corridor: inner stretches near Manpada are well served and close to central Thane, outer stretches past Kasarvadavali are cheaper and much further out. Congestion is severe and persistent throughout.
