Area Overview

What makes Katraj special

Katraj sits at the southern edge of Pune where the city meets the Katraj ghat and the hills toward Satara. The Rajiv Gandhi Zoological Park and Katraj lake are here, and the hills give the area more green cover than most of southern Pune.

It has grown substantially over the last two decades, with society housing filling the land between the old Katraj settlement and Ambegaon to the east.

The Metro Line 1 extension from Swargate to Katraj is under construction, which is the main change on the horizon and the reason much of the recent investment interest has arrived.

Why choose Katraj?

Katraj combines genuine green space — the lake, the zoo, the hills toward the ghat — with Bharati Vidyapeeth’s university, medical college and hospital all within 2 km, at prices well below Kothrud or Karve Nagar. The Metro Line 1 extension from Swargate is under construction. The trade-offs are distance from central Pune, an airport run of nearly an hour, and highway and ghat traffic through the belt.
