Deccan Gymkhana takes its name from the club founded here in 1906, and it remains the most established residential address in central Pune. The area is often called simply Deccan.
It sits between Fergusson College Road and the Mutha river, taking in the Gymkhana grounds, Bhandarkar Road, Law College Road and part of Prabhat Road. Fergusson and BMCC are on its edge.
Housing is a mix of old bungalows, low-rise society blocks from the 1960s onward, and a small number of newer towers. Stock rarely comes to market, and Metro Line 2 has a station at Deccan Gymkhana.
